Norma Jean Henry, 86, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Berger Hospital.
She was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Pickaway County, the daughter of Homer and Ruth Marie (Lovett) Hartranft.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin E. Henry Sr., in 1998; and her sister, Lois Hartranft, in 1986.
Norma was a lifetime member of Heidelberg Church in Stoutsville and retired at the age of 71 ½ from Columbus Industries after 32 years of service.
She was a bubbly person who liked to help others and was a good friend to many. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning and baking. She also was an excellent seamstress and made much of her own and her children’s clothing when they were young.
Norma will be dearly missed by her daughter, Melva (John Mahoney) Christopher; son, Melvin E. “Buddy” (Cathy Rotert) Henry Jr.; grandchildren, Brent and Brian Christopher and Jason Henry and Christina Henry; five great-grandchildren; many cousins and good friends; special next door neighbors, Danny and Janet Heeter; and her beloved pets and companions, Archie James and Skeeter, whom she adopted from the Pickaway County Dog Shelter.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Circleville, with Pastor Ted Davis officiating. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Partners for Paws, P.O. Box 282, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
