Allison Payton, a student and competition team member at the Charmion Performing Arts Center in Circleville, recently was selected from 2,800 applicants to represent Ohio as part of Dance Across the USA.

Payton has been dancing for six years and has performed at local festivals and Charmion recitals, along with multiple regional and national competitions.

Her personal awards include regional and national first-place awards; two regional Miss Petite titles; national competition Most Photogenic; and an Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) scholarship winner.

She also was a member of Charmion’s national champion small group and White Diamond award winner, as well as Charmion’s national champion Line/Production group.

Dance Across the USA was founded by photographer Jonathan Givens. It is intended to show the beauty and majesty of America while showcasing the country’s most amazing dancers. It also promotes dance as a career and lifestyle, a benefit to the development of children.

A dancer from each state will be photographed at a national park, national historic location or state park. The photos then will be compiled into a book that will be sold to benefit the national parks and the National Endowment for the Arts.
