Norman F. Stern Sr., 84, of Chillicothe, died at 10:11 a.m. Sept. 3, 2016, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in East Liverpool, to the late Frederick and Victoria (Lambright) Stern.
On July 2, 1950, he married the former Patricia A. Brooks, who survives. Also surviving are his sons Norman Stern Jr. and his fiancée, Cindy Moore, both of Leipsic, and Dan (Tami) Stern of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kendra Stern of Chillicothe and Dan (Erica) Stern Jr., of Commercial Point; great-grandchildren, Toban Byrd, Serenity Umphries, Erianna Stern, Kendle Stern and Kenley Stern; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Chuck) Dyke of East Liverpool; brothers-in-law, Jack (Joanne) Brooks of Texas and Robert (Shirley) Brooks of Lisbon; and his best friends, Sue and Jim Salyers of Chillicothe.
He was predeceased by his step-mother, Opal (Stroble) Stern.
Norm was a US Army veteran and retired from the White engine plant in 1987. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.
At his request, a memorial service will be scheduled at his church following cremation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Chillicothe.
