CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A local man was taken into custody twice over a multi-day span following repeated reports of disruptive, intoxicated behavior at businesses along Circleville Plaza Drive.

Deputies with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office first responded to the Dollar Tree at 1404 Circleville Plaza Drive around 9:27 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after receiving calls regarding an intoxicated man causing problems for customers. Bystanders and store employees flagged down Deputy J. MacDonald and Sgt. McIntyre, directing them toward the nearby Walmart where the suspect was harassing shoppers.

Initial Saturday Arrest

Deputies located the suspect—identified as George Sargent—standing outside Walmart in a white tank top and gray shorts, leaning against a vehicle while drinking a Busch beer.

During the interaction, Sargent lost his balance and fell backward into Sgt. McIntyre, who caught him and placed him in handcuffs. Sargent allegedly admitted to consuming numerous beers and four Four Lokos prior to officers arriving. While inside the cruiser, he remained loud and disruptive, repeatedly screaming at passersby.

Sargent was arrested for Disorderly Conduct by Persisting, issued a one-year trespass ban by Walmart management, and booked into the Pickaway County Jail.

Second Arrest Following Release

Shortly after being released from custody, Sargent returned to the same Walmart area and resumed the disruptive behavior.

Circleville Police were dispatched to the scene following fresh complaints from the shopping center. Officers located Sargent back on the property, placed him under arrest a second time for disorderly conduct, and transported him back to the Pickaway County Jail.
