Merle E. Cathel, 73, passed away May 12, 2016.
He was born Oct. 7, 1942, in Columbus.
He was preceded in death by wife, Fran Cathel; parents, Carl and Bernice Cathel; brothers, Paul Cathel, Marion (Ann) Cathel and Jerry (Glenda) Cathel; and ex-wife, Judy (Rick) Lucas.
He is survived by daughters, Sherry (Frank) Weaver and Robin Mcgaughey; step-daughter, Candy Chapwick; son, Merle Cathel Jr.; step-son, Tim (Regina) Snelling; siblings, Carl Jr. (the late Anita) Cathel, Roger (Edie) Cathel, Sharon (Jim) Pontious and Linda (Paul) Welsh; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pam (Paul) Wade; special cousin, Mary Gillispie; aunt, Jo Cathell; and special friend, Jill Barker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Darbyville Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Robert Martindale officiating. Dinner will follow at the Jackson Township Community Center.
