Zane Hastings Grabans, 23, of Ashville, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Mount Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born on May 17, 1992, in Columbus.

Zane served his country for four years in the United States Air Force as an E-4 Airman and was just hired at Children’s Hospital in Columbus as a Perioperative Technician.

He was a graduate of Teay Valley High School, Class of 2010, where he was in the National Honor Society and ran cross country and track. He had attended University of Cincinnati prior to entering the Air Force.

He was a member of 4-H for a number of years growing up. Zane loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Boston Red Sox.

He was preceded in death by uncle, Brett Hastings.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Holly A. and Rob Powell, and sister, Mallory, all of Ashville; grandparents, Jim and Patsy Hastings of Ashville; uncles, Rom (Jodi) Hastings of Ashville and Matt (Wendy) Hastings of Commercial Point; aunt, Jan Shannon of Orient; cousins, Chelsey, Derek, Cody, Leslie, Jacob and Raelynn; father, John (Audrey) Grabans of Lancaster; grandmother, Gloria Levan of Darbyville; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, Joe Kenyon, Bill “Tilly” Anderson, Mac Coe, Coven Molinar, Shane Yoho, Barry Ranft, Caleb Sharp and Kendall Clark.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Scioto Chapel United Methodist Church, 6337 St. Rt. 316, Ashville, with Pastor Deb Nance and Pastor Todd Hautala officiating. Burial will follow in Beckett Cemetery, Commercial Point. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville.

The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Zane should be made to the Teays Valley Educational Foundation, P.O.Box 146, Ashville, Ohio 43103.
