Milton Wesley Alderman, 88, of Waverly, died 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at S.OM.C. Hospice, Portsmouth.

Milton was born Aug. 21, 1927, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the son of the late Oscar Wesley Alderman and Lillian Gladys (Keys) Alderman.

On Feb. 28, 1948, Milton was united in marriage to Phyllis Grey (Persinger) Alderman, who survives. Also surviving are six sons, Wayne Alderman and wife Pamela of Kingston, Oscar W. Alderman and wife Vikki of Dublin, Rodney W. Alderman and wife Kathy of Vinton, A. Lynn Alderman and wife Cindy of Circleville, Rick K. Alderman and wife Sandy of Waverly and Gordon K. Alderman of Fortuna, California; daughter, Cheryl Ann Prewitt Waverly; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Elmo R. Alderman of Jumping Branch, West Virginia; and a sister, Phyllis G. Gust of Richmond, Virginia.

Milton was a member of the Waverly Grace United Methodist Church, retired maintenance supervisor for Goodyear Atomic Corporation, Piketon, member of Orient Lodge #321, F & A.M., Waverly, member of the Chapter, Council and Commandery of Chillicothe, member of Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, member and past Patron of Waverly Chapter #99 O.E.S. Waverly, former Pee Pee Twp. Trustee and served on the Pike Water Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dolphus Alderman; and a sister, Frances Creel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, with Rev. Aaron Overly officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Denver Road, Waverly. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Boyer Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. Friday by Orient Lodge #321, Waverly.
