Mary Ann Strausbaugh, 89, of Chillicothe, died 1:14 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness.
She was born June 25, 1926, in Pickaway County, to the late Ferdinand and Mabel Brinks Barthelmes.
On June 23, 1945, she married Berlin Strausbaugh, who died July 12, 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca A. (Virgil) Search of Chillicothe; sons, Scott (Barbara) Strausbaugh of Chillicothe and Shawn (Erin) Strausbaugh of Belmont, North Carolina; grandchildren, Hallie (Sam) Spetnagel, Ashley (Brandon) Hanes, Devon Strausbaugh, Kelsey Strausbaugh and Marissa Strausbaugh; great-grandchildren, Delaney Spetnagel, Emily, Lucas and Sophie Hanes; a brother, Richard Barthelmes of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Betty Deffenbaugh and Patty Lovensheimer; and a brother, Charles Barthelmes.
Mary Ann was a kind and giving person who was adored and loved by all that met her. She loved shopping, decorating, vacationing and being surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services, and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
The family would like to thank the staff of Traditions and Chaplain Charles Elliott and the staff of NCR Hospice for the exceptional care giving to Mary Ann and the love and kindness shown to our family during her illness.
