Pike County – Former Piketon Officer Indicted for Theft in Office and Impersonation of a Officer

PIKE – Assistant Pike County Prosecuting Attorney Michael A. Davis reports that during the November 18 Grand Jury, a seven-count indictment was returned by a Pike County Grand Jury involving:

Cassandra Meinert Waverly, Ohio Indictments for:

Theft in Office: R.C. 2921.41(A)(1) – Felony 5

Theft: R.C. 2913.02(A)(3) Misd 1

Personating an Officer: R.C. 2913.44 – Misd 1

Theft: R.C. 2913.02(A)(3) – Misd 1

Personating an Officer: R.C. 2913.44 – Misd 1

Theft: R.C. 2913.02(A)(3) -Misd 1

Personating an Officer: R.C. 2913.44 – Misd 1

Ms. Meinert was working as a Piketon Police Officer during the allegations contained in Count 1 of the indictment. Ms. Meinert’s employment with the Piketon Police Department ceased. Subsequently, she is alleged to have personated a peace officer in order to commit a theft offense which are the allegations contained in Counts 2 -7 of the indictment.

Ms. Meinert appeared before Pike County Common Pleas Court Judge Randy Deering where she plead not guilty and received an OR bond. Ms. Meinert was appointed counsel and her case was set for a pretrial.

As always, all defendants indicted by a grand jury are innocent until proven guilty
