Circleville, Ohio – On January 24, 2024, at approximately 1409 hours, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at Walmart, located at 1470 S. Court St. The suspects, identified as Eric L. Benford and Miranda J. Setree, were fleeing the scene in a U-Haul pickup truck.

Thanks to a swift response and coordination with Ross County authorities, the vehicle was stopped by Ohio State Highway Patrol units on US 23 at Bridge St. in Chillicothe. The suspects were detained, and the stolen items, including calculators, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, snack cakes, rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, and a glove gift set, were recovered.

Miranda Setree admitted to participating in the thefts and stated that Eric Benford had planned to sell the calculators. Benford declined to answer questions, while Setree was transported to Adena Hospital after complaining of chest pains. A state-wide arrest warrant was issued for her. The stolen goods were impounded at the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, and the dog she was with was taken into custody by the Dog Warden. Eric Benford was arrested and charged with felony theft, and taken to the Pickaway County Jail.
