Pickaway County – Man with Stolen Gun and Drugs in Hotel Room Pleas Not Guilty

Pickaway County – A man who was found with a stolen gun and drugs pleaded not guilty this week in Pickaway County Court

On May 31, 2023, Circleville Police officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn on South Court Street after a report of a man with a warrant and a possible stolen firearm, when they arrived they found Ronnie Pettiford, 25 of Clarksburg who had a warrant for his arrest in his possession a firearm that came back stolen out of Ross County, he also had a magazine to another firearm in his possession that was also loaded. Due to this and the stolen items, the Circleville Police Department requested a search warrant for his hotel room.

After getting a search warrant police entered the room to find a suitcase beside the bed that had another extended magazine (36) for a 9 mm handgun. Along with the gun officers located a bong, baggies containing methamphetamine, along with a temporary setup that possibly was being used to make drugs. Under the sink, officers found a safe, and after getting access to the safe officers found a Taurus 9 mm handgun with another loaded magazine, meth bongs, baggies, and glass pipes. Officers confiscated the drugs and guns but also took lithium batteries, a flare gun, brake fluid, and other components indicated in the manufacture of methamphetamine. In total Circleville Police confiscated 4.3 grams of meth.

This week Pettiford pleaded not guilty to Receiving Stolen Property, Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs,
Aggravated Possession of Drugs his pretrial will be 12/15/23
