PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Pickaway County officials are coordinating with state and local agencies following Gov. Mike DeWine’s declaration of a State of Emergency for 19 Ohio counties affected by severe weather and flooding.
The declaration includes Pickaway and Ross counties, along with Athens, Clermont, Gallia, Greene, Highland, Jackson, Logan, Meigs, Mercer, Montgomery, Morgan, Muskingum, Perry, Pike, Preble, Van Wert and Vinton counties.
DeWine signed the emergency proclamation Tuesday after meeting with local officials, first responders and residents in Vinton County, where significant flooding occurred.
The proclamation directs state departments and agencies to provide services, equipment, supplies and personnel to assist affected communities with cleanup and recovery efforts. The Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio State Highway Patrol are among the agencies coordinating with local authorities.
Pickaway County Response
Pickaway County Emergency Management Agency Director Tiffany Nash said the safety and well-being of residents remains the county’s priority.
“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our residents,” Nash said. “Through our emergency management agency, we will continue to work closely with our state and local partners to coordinate resources and provide support to our communities as they recover from this flooding.”
County officials are asking residents who experienced flood-related damage to report it to Pickaway County EMA as soon as it is safe to do so.

Officials say the information will assist with ongoing response and recovery efforts.
Residents are also encouraged to remain alert to changing conditions, follow instructions from local officials and monitor trusted sources for emergency information.
The state emergency declaration comes after significant flooding across portions of southern and central Ohio, with communities reporting flooded roads, stranded motorists, property damage and other impacts.
Pickaway County officials say continued coordination among local, county and state agencies will remain important as the community moves from emergency response into recovery.
