Pickaway County – Who will be Pickaway County’s new Common Pleas Judge? The race is contested by two strong Republicans.
Matt Chafin a Ashville Resident has a lot of experience in law from Franklin County. Matt is a graduate of Teays Valley High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University, and earned his law degree at Capital University Law School. He has nearly 40 years of experience as a public servant and thirty years of experience as a licensed attorney. During his legal career, he worked 7 years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Franklin County, 11 years on the bench as an Attorney Examiner at the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, 8 years as Chief Legal Counsel for the Ohio Department of Taxation, and 4 years as a Deputy Director over Audit and Criminal Investigations at the Ohio Department of Taxation. Chafin said that, “He never wanted to run for office but have spent my career serving the public in more humble ways. As a conservative, I know I share the values of our community and will always put the safety of Pickaway County first.”
Judy Wolford is also a lifelong resident of Pickaway County, A graduate of Westfall High School, she went on to The Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Dairy Science. She then graduated from Capital University Law School. Since 2006, Judy has served as the Pickaway County Prosecuting Attorney. She has been with the Pickaway County Prosecutor’s Office since 1994. For 10 years, she worked as an Assistant Circleville City Law Director. For five years, she was the New Holland Village Solicitor. She ran a successful private practice and she has served as a special prosecutor in six other counties in central Ohio. She says that she is running to, “continue to serve this community, as the Judge of Pickaway County Common Pleas.”
