CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Pickaway County 4-H will welcome the community to its annual Open House on Wednesday, November 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in Heritage Hall at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds, located at 415 Lancaster Pike, Circleville.

Attendees will have the chance to meet current 4-H members and volunteers, view project demonstrations, explore project books, and learn about joining a local 4-H club. The evening is designed to give families a firsthand look at the variety of opportunities 4-H provides for youth development.

“4-H is a ‘learning by doing’ organization,” said Joy Sharp, Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development. “Our goal is to engage young people in healthy learning experiences that build self-esteem, problem-solving skills, and life skills.”

4-H offers a wide range of projects in areas such as science, natural resources, health, woodworking, nutrition, clothing, leadership, citizenship, and livestock. While 4-H is often associated with livestock and the county fair, Ohio 4-H provides 200 different projects aimed at preparing youth for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

The Pickaway 4-H program is also seeking new volunteers to help start clubs. Community members and parents interested in guiding youth and fostering leadership skills are encouraged to attend the open house or contact the Extension Office.

Currently, the program reaches nearly 800 local youth, with clubs actively forming for the upcoming year. For more information, contact the Pickaway County Ohio State University Extension office at 740-474-7534 or visit www.pickaway.osu.edu
