US – As the News Mars Rover Perseverance released its payload Mars helicopter Ingenuity a photo was sent back to the Earth and when released to the public people started commenting not on the space helicopter but a “rainbow” on Mars.

NASA was quick to explain that rainbows are not possible on Mars due to the need of water. In Fact, rainbows are created by light reflected off of round water droplets, but there isn’t enough water here to condense, and it’s too cold for liquid water in the atmosphere. This arc is a lens flare common in space.
