
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A pedestrian struck by a vehicle outside a local retail center and a series of warrant executions highlighted a busy 24-hour shift for the Chillicothe Police Department on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
According to the department’s daily media report released on June 4, officers responded to 14 notable incidents, navigating everything from physical altercations to traffic safety violations.
Pedestrian Struck at Walmart
Afternoon emergency crews rushed to the local Walmart on River Trace Lane at 2:06 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Responding officers located the incident on the grocery side of the property. Details regarding the victim’s identity or the severity of their injuries have not yet been released, and the police department noted that the investigation remains active.
Warrants, Resisting Arrest, and Reckless Driving
Warrant enforcement kept officers heavily engaged throughout the day, beginning in the early morning hours:
- Buckeye Street: At 12:53 a.m., an officer initiated a consensual encounter with three males standing near the front entrance of the Chillicothe Public Library at 550 Buckeye Street. The encounter escalated, resulting in charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and the execution of an outstanding warrant.
- Chillicothe Mall: At 12:51 p.m., a routine traffic stop on North Bridge Street near the Chillicothe Mall led to a warrant investigation.
- East Main Street: Late Wednesday night at 10:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area near the Speedway gas station on East Main Street following reports of a reckless driver. The vehicle was intercepted, and the encounter led to an arrest for an outstanding warrant and driving under suspension (DUS).
Additionally, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Water Street at 9:25 a.m. to follow up on a pending warrant investigation.
Disputes, Criminal Mischief, and Community Responses
Disturbances and property complaints surfaced across several neighborhoods throughout the afternoon and evening hours:
- Street Fight: At 1:50 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Second Street and Watt Street following reports of a male and female engaged in a physical altercation, leading to a disorderly conduct investigation.
- Criminal Mischief & Property Issues: Property complaints were recorded at 12:49 p.m. in the 600 block of South Hickory Street and later at 11:20 p.m. at the Woodland Heights Apartments, where a disorderly complaint shifted into a criminal mischief investigation. An earlier morning call regarding criminal mischief on East Main Street was redirected when officers realized the caller was actually located on Western Avenue.
- Mental Health Crisis: Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1500 block of University Drive at 9:25 a.m. regarding a non-criminal call involving a suicidal individual.
The remainder of the daily log included proactive traffic stops for failing to obey traffic control devices on Yoctangee Parkway, a red-light violation, and handling a minor parking complaint on South Brownell Street.
