Minford, Ohio – Just a short drive from Pickaway County, a unique and heartwarming holiday tradition is drawing thousands of visitors eager to experience the true spirit of Christmas. The Christmas Cave, now in its ninth season, offers an unforgettable holiday display set within the mysterious passages of an underground mine in Minford, Ohio.

Located at White Gravel Mines, the Christmas Cave features nearly a mile of breathtaking light displays, both above and below ground. The self-guided light show takes visitors through tunnels and caves, where they can enjoy 20 exhibits that tell the story of Jesus’ birth—from the Nativity to other biblical scenes, all illuminated in stunning detail.

The display, created by White Gravel Mines Productions, is the brainchild of local couple Tom and Mindy Martin. Their goal was to create an event that not only dazzles visitors but also highlights the true reason for the season. With 16 underground biblical scenes and three Nativity displays, the Christmas Cave offers a captivating visual experience that is both educational and inspiring. New this year, there are additional outdoor displays and two dazzling light tunnels.

The Martins, who have cultivated this free tradition over the past several years, say the attraction has become a beloved part of the holiday season. Last year, more than 33,000 people visited the cave, many traveling from far and wide to witness the spectacle. The event has gained a loyal following, with people of all ages marveling at the lights and the story behind them.

And while the show is set in a cave, visitors need not worry about the cold—the underground temperature remains a comfortable 55 degrees year-round, making it a pleasant escape even on the chilliest winter days.

The Christmas Cave is open every Friday and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. from November 22 through Christmas. Best of all, admission is free, though a $1 donation is recommended to help support the event. Donations can be made on-site or online via the event’s website.

Located at 4007 White Gravel McDaniel Road, Minford, Ohio, the Christmas Cave is just an hour’s drive from Pickaway County. For those planning to visit, more details and directions can be found on the Christmas Cave’s official website

A holiday tradition that brings joy and reflection, the Christmas Cave is a must-see event for anyone looking to reconnect with the true meaning of Christmas.
