Ohio State Trooper Recognized in Saving Life of Migrant Female After Falling From Train

TEXAS – A Ohio State Trooper is being recognized for saving the life of a woman who fell from a train in Texas.

Trooper Ian Lowry with the Ohio State Highway Patrol will receive a Director’s Award for his actions on July 26 in which a female migrant worker was badly injured after falling off a train in Eagle Pass Texas according to a press release. The woman after falling was in serious condition and needed immediate care.

The press release said that the woman eventually needed a leg amputated but will survive the incident. Texas recognizes Lowry and Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Lopez for their fast action to save the woman’s life and will receive the lifesaving award from the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

The ceremony will take place in Texas on Monday, August 2, at 6 p.m.
