Chillicothe and Ohio Senate District 17 — An Ohio Senator wants to move from the Statehouse to the House of Congress. Shane Wilkin, currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate, is one of several Republican primary candidates for Ohio’s Second Congressional District.

He spoke to the lunchtime crowd Thursday at the Republican Women of Ross County in their ongoing series of meet-and-greets.

Wilkin is currently the state senator for Ross and eight other counties. He explained how his first office he held, Highland County commissioner, was a huge learning experience in a hard economy, but they got out of it with good conservative decisions.

He pointed out that he is the only Second Congressional District candidate with legislative experience. He is on the Ohio Senate’s standing committee on Energy & Public Utilities, and Wilkin said energy is one of favorite topics. He said the 1980s gas centrifuge (not the demolished 1950s gaseous diffusion plant) at the Piketon facility is “an untapped resource” for future energy. It has “unique qualities unmatched across the nation” – and is still connected to the electrical grid.

Wilkin said he does not have the biggest wealth for campaigning, but has the “most experience wealth.” Find him on his official State Senate webpage, and campaign webpage. (And don’t make the mistake of adding an “s” at the end of his name, like I did…)

Hear him in his own words in the below interview video.
