CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — As autumn brings crisp evenings and changing leaves to Pickaway County, Roundtown Players Theater is tapping into the seasonal spirit with a stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic tale, The Canterville Ghost.
The production follows the American Otis family as they move into Canterville Chase, a grand British mansion with an uninvited resident: Sir Simon de Canterville. Played by Ira Winner, the centuries-old ghost is a master of terror who suddenly finds himself outmatched by a family completely unbothered by his ghostly antics.
The cast features Kawn Howard as the pragmatically minded Mr. Horace Otis, Maegan Mosher as Mrs. Lucy Otis, and Bekah Clark and Leah Barr as daughters Pam and Wendy. Hailee Shough plays Virginia Washington, the family member who uncovers the poignant truth behind Sir Simon’s haunting. Rounding out the colorful cast of characters are Susi Cantley (Lady Canterville), Tyler Patrick (Lord Cecil), Solomon Patrick (Martin the Maniac), Kyra Dunkle (Hester the Horrid), and Jackie Hood (The Vampire Duchess).
Blending spooky atmosphere with comedic timing, The Canterville Ghost balances supernatural mischief with a surprisingly heartfelt core message.
