Nelsonville OH- Caller Reported Suspicious Birds, Why Did The Chicken Cross the Road and Juveniles Escape JDC

03:44AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on Jackson St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for an equipment violation, then released.

03:46AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on E Canal St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for an equipment violation, then released.

07:15AM Officers responded to Adams St for an attempt to locate an individual. William Theisen was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

07:44AM Officers responded to E Canal St for an investigative complaint. The caller reported that there were multiple small trees and limbs in the westbound lane of travel. The Fire Department was contacted to come cut and remove them.

08:01AM Officers responded to Fayette St for a request of a well-being check.

08:05AM Officers responded to Poplar St for a report of a trespassing complaint. The caller reported that a male individual who is trespassed from the property is in the parking lot begging customers for money. Officers checked records and determined that the male individual is not trespassed from the property in question. It was noted that the male was sober, talking to a friend, and not doing anything illegal at this time.

08:08AM Officers responded to the Public Square for a report of a fight. The caller did not have any visible injuries. Officers cleared the apartment, and no one was found inside. The male was transported a local hospital for a blue slip.

10:28AM Officers responded to Adams St for a follow up investigation pertaining to a previous reported incident. Negative contact was made at this time.

10:44AM Officers were flagged down on W Franklin St. Information was provided to officers.

11:13AM Officers were involved in a foot pursuit on E Canal St. All available units were on foot in the area where the individual was last seen. Negative contact was made at this time.

02:15PM Officers responded to W Washington St for a follow up investigation related to a previous reported incident. Officers made contact with the female in question who was confirmed safe and okay.

03:40PM Officers responded to W Washington St for a narcotics related complaint. Officers located and collected the syringe for proper disposal.

03:43PM Officers responded to W Franklin St for a report of a parking complaint. The owner of the vehicle was located and advised to move the vehicle.

03:49PM Officers responded to the public square for a report of an intoxicated male. Officers located and spoke to the individual. It was noted that the individual would walk fine and care for himself.

06:44PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Washington St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for speeding, then released.

07:00PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on JLE Dr. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for speed, then released.

07:05PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on JLE Dr. Travecia Franklin was issued a citation for speeding, then released.

07:17PM Officers responded to E Canal St for an investigative complaint. The caller was concerned because there were some people who had rented equipment and not returned it yet and not answering their phones. It was determined that other people saw them on the river and that they are ok.

07:24PM Officers responded to St Rt 278 for a report of an investigative complaint. The caller reported that there are numerous buzzards in the area of the river. Officers were on foot and checked the area. It was noted that a flock of buzzards were spooked that were around a deceased deer.

07:36PM Officers responded to Grosvenor St for a report of an investigative complaint. The caller reported that two males were looking under her vehicles and admitted that they were checked to see if the exhaust was attached. Officers patrolled the area and surrounding areas but had negative contact with the suspects at this time.

08:01PM Officers responded to Walnut St for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller reported that an individual in a jeep has been tearing up the hill side trying to cut his own path from Walnut St to High St. Officers spoke to the occupants who were given a verbal warning for Reckless Op and Obstructing Official Business.

09:17PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on E Canal St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for speeding, then released.

09:22PM Officers responded to E Canal St for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller reported that a male stopped a vehicle, jumped out and ran about an hour ago and that the vehicle in question is still there. A local towing company was requested to the scene and the vehicle was towed due to it blocking a driveway. Officer made contact with the owner of the vehicle at her apartment. It was determined that she had an active warrant. Mandy Traugh was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

10:45PM Officers responded to St Rt 691 for a report of a prowler in the area. A search of the area and surrounding areas was completed but negative contact was made with the suspect or his vehicle at this time.

02:25AM Officers responded to Fort St for an investigative report.

03:14AM Officers responded to Back St for a report of an open door. The caller reported that windows and doors are open at the address which is not normal. Officers made contact with the new tenant. Back in service.

08:00AM Officers responded to Chestnut St for a report of a stolen vehicle. Information was gathered and a report of the stolen vehicle was taken.

09:50AM Officers responded to Loop Rd for a request to unlock a building. Unlock was successful.

10:23AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Washington St. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding, then released.

10:45AM Officers were flagged down by an individual who wanted to make a report. The individual was provided with statement papers and advised that Officers would stop back later to pick them up.

10:57AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Washington St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for speeding, then released.

11:00AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on Madison St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for a stop sign violation, then released.

11:16AM Officers were flagged down by two individuals who reported trouble between neighbors. Pictures were taken of the damage done. The individual was advised that this is a civil suit and that they will need to talk to their landlord.

01:42PM Officers responded to Poplar St for a report of an accident with property damage. A report was taken.
03:21PM Officers noticed a leak in front of a residence on Terrace Ave. The Street Department was advised of the situation.

04:45PM Officers responded to Urgent Care on JLE Dr. The caller reported finding syringes near the entrance door. Officers collected the syringes for proper disposal.

05:25PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Washington St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning, then released.

05:42PM Officers responded to Fort St for a report of livestock in the road. The caller reported that a chicken was running into lanes of travel and causing a traffic issue. Officers located and apprehended the chicken after a short foot pursuit. It was noted that the caller and others in the area had reported that the chicken has been running loose and causing issues for a while. The chicken was released to an individual in the area to add to his flock.

06:48PM Officers stopped an individual on a bicycle. The rider was given a verbal warning for a stop sign violation, then released.

07:13PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Canal St. Amber Bryant was issued a citation for speeding, then released.

09:00PM Officers received a call reporting that two juveniles had run-a-way from the Hocking Valley Community Residential Center. Officers patrolled the area and surrounding areas of the facility as well as different areas where the males may have gone. Negative contact was made at this time. The search continued and the area of search was expanded. Several hours later, Officers received a phone call from the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office reporting that they had apprehended the two juveniles in question. NPD Officers met with HCSO and took custody of the two juveniles who were then transported to JDC.
