CHILLICOTHE, OH — As the city gears up for a month of festivals and outdoor events, the City of Chillicothe Transit System (CTS) has released the May 2026 Trolley Schedule. While the iconic red trolley remains free to ride and fully wheelchair accessible, officials are warning passengers that ongoing construction in Yoctangee Park may cause some detours.

Due to the Yoctangee Park improvement project—currently slated for late May completion—stops near the city pool and park restrooms may be periodically inaccessible. Riders are encouraged to use the Ride Pingo app to track the trolley’s location in real-time.

Downtown Route: Weekend Staples

The Downtown Route will operate throughout May with a few key exceptions to accommodate local events:

  • Fridays (May 1, 8, 15, 29): 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Saturdays (May 2, 9, 16, 30): 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Event-Specific Changes:

  • May 9: No stop at the Mighty Children’s Museum due to the Mother’s Day Market.
  • May 16: Service to the Phoenix Fire Museum will begin at 11:00 AM to accommodate the “Backroads of Appalachia” event.
  • May 29–30: The trolley will bypass the River’s Bend stop during the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

Neighborhood Route: Flowering Moon Special

The trolley will expand its reach during the highly anticipated Feast of the Flowering Moon festival. The Neighborhood Route, which connects various residential points and local landmarks like the Library and Arch & Cherry, will run on a special festival schedule:

  • Friday, May 22: 1:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Saturday, May 23: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Modern Tracking for a Vintage Ride

To help residents navigate the construction and event closures, CTS is leaning heavily on its digital integration. Passengers can scan the QR codes found at trolley stops or download the Ride Pingo app to see exactly when the next trolley will arrive, ensuring they don’t miss a minute of the May festivities.
