CIRCLEVILLE – A passerby saved the life of two dogs in a barn fire last night around 9:15 pm on Febuary 18, 2019.

According to Pickaway County Sheriff an individual was driving North on Hitler road when he noticed a barn on fire located at 6510 Hitler road 2.  He stopped called 911 and woke up the owners of the property, the Fontaine’s.

“Devin Haddox then went into the barn and saved two dogs that had a kennel in the barn,” said Chas Walisa on our social media post.  She also claims they believe that the start of the fire may be a heat lamp they had inside the barn to keep the dogs warm at night.

Pickaway County Sheriff was next on the scene and said “the older 60 by 30 pole barn wrapped in tin siding was fully engulfed in flames.”  Clear-creek Township and three other departments Pickaway, Circleville and Tarlton fire assisted. Fire departments put out the fire quickly on scene, but the fire had already mostly taken the building by the time the fire department responded.  The barn is a total loss, along with various barn related items, lawn tractors and equipment that was stored in the barn.

The fire still remains under investigation at the time of the post.
