Man Attempts Robbery Outside Chillicothe Business, Victim Talks Him Down

Chillicothe, Ohio (February 20, 2024) – A man waiting for a ride outside a business on East 2nd Street in Chillicothe on February 12th faced a harrowing experience when he was approached by a stranger wielding a gun. According to the victim’s report, the incident unfolded around 6:30 PM.

The Encounter:

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated that an unidentified white male wearing a red hat, red long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and red/gray Air Force Ones approached him and demanded his belongings at gunpoint. The victim described the firearm as a small, black handgun, possibly a Glock 22 or similar model.

Despite the tense situation, the victim managed to de-escalate the encounter and convince the suspect to lower his weapon. Remarkably, the suspect reportedly engaged in conversation, revealing his age as 20 and claiming to be a cocaine dealer with a history of similar robberies. The victim also stated that the suspect appeared highly intoxicated and identified himself as “Chris” from Circleville, even providing a phone number.

Investigation Underway:

Police were notified immediately, and a search for the suspect, described as “Chris,” was initiated. Detective Adam Steele, who investigated the incident, patrolled the surrounding area but was unable to locate the individual. Efforts are now underway to review security camera footage from the area in hopes of identifying and apprehending the suspect.
