OHIO – According to a local fire department is warning of a scam that is going around Fairfield and Pickaway Counties with some reports of it being outside of those areas. Calls from the scammer are claiming to be associated with a fire department in that area or a Volunteer Firefighter Association Group, and according to Greenfield fire department, “It is not our practice to call or have any groups call on our behalf seeking information or donations.”
Recently the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters called one of the groups identifying themselves as Volunteer Firefighter Association from a number that showed up on caller ID as 859-636-6260 and after asking a few questions, the person hung up instantly.
