LICKING – A mother was found in a shallow grave and the murderer was her son just before Christmas.

According to the Licking Sheriff department, on the evening of December 23 Licking County Sheriffs Deputies and Detectives executed a search warrant at 207 Darlene Dr in Newark. The warrant resulted from a welfare check on Debra Perrine, age 67, requested by family members who had not had contact with her for roughly a week. Upon entry deputies located Debra’s son David Perrine, age 40 and another male subject. Debra was not located on the premises. Deputies found evidence in the house that indicated foul play had occurred and that an attempt had been made to remove evidence.

David Perrine was arrested and taken to the Licking County Jail for a pretrial bond violation. The other male subject was not arrested.

On 12-29- 22 sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Investigation and Identification located an area on the Darlene Dr property that indicated recent displacement of the ground. Upon excavating the site, investigators discovered and recovered the body of Debra Perrine, which had obvious signs of trauma indicating foul play.

David Perrine, who was arrested and taken to the Licking County Jail on the evening of the 23rd for a pretrial bond violation, remains incarcerated and is a person of interest. The death of Debra Perrine is being investigated as a homicide.
