LANCASTER – Lancaster police department has reported that there are several complaints lately of scams in the area.
According to the department, the Lancaster Police Department has received multiple complaints concerning citizens and local businesses receiving phone and/or email requests for assistance. The calls and emails tell the individual to purchase gift cards and send the card numbers via phone or email to a certain person. Victims are being told that a loved one or co-worker needs financial assistance due to legal matters.
The Lancaster Police Department wants to remind citizens that they will never be contacted by law enforcement and asked to provide gift card numbers.
