Lancaster Man Sentenced to Prison for Drug Trafficking in Pickaway County

PICKAWAY – A man has been sentenced to prison after being caught with bulk amounts of drugs that he was planning on trafficking

According to OSP on January 14, 2022, OSP performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that James Kohler, 59 was in possession of. During the stop criminal markings sparked an investigation that led to a K9 sniff of the vehicle. After a search was performed OSP troopers reported that a large amount of Methamphetamine more than five time the definition of the “bulk amount” was found inside. Along with the drugs, baggies, and scales were found alongside a handgun.

Kohler already a felon from a prior conviction in Fairfield County for illegal possession was charged with having weapons under disability and improper handling of that weapon in a vehicle.

In Pickaway County Court this week Kohler pleaded guilty to aggravated trafficking and having weapons under disability, he was sentenced to 3-4.5 years in prison.
