COLUMBUS, Ohio — Kroger customers across Ohio can help support local food banks and children’s literacy today as the grocery chain celebrates Dolly Parton Day on September 25.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine have declared September 25 Dolly Parton Day in Ohio. In recognition of the day, Kroger is inviting customers to round up their purchases at checkout to support their local Feeding America food bank partner.
Kroger will match every dollar raised on September 25 and make a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio.
The program provides a free book each month to more than 432,000 children across Ohio.
How Customers Can Help
Kroger’s Dolly Parton Day fundraising effort will take place:
- When: Thursday, September 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Where: Kroger stores throughout Ohio
- How: Customers can round up their purchase at checkout to support their local Feeding America food bank.
The promotion combines the Dolly Parton Day celebration with Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign focused on raising awareness of food insecurity and encouraging communities to take action against hunger.
Kroger said the effort is part of its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste mission, which aims to help address hunger and food waste in local communities.
Parton has long promoted childhood literacy through the Imagination Library, which provides books to children at no cost to their families.
For Ohio shoppers, the September 25 campaign offers an opportunity to support both local hunger-relief organizations and children’s literacy programs through a simple round-up donation at checkout.
