John Darren Lightle, 49, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Friday, March 25, 2022. He was born May 23, 1972 in Chilliothe, Ohio to Richard and Dorothy Grooms Lightle of Waverly. Also surviving are his children, Scott Richard Lightle, Elizabeth Grace Lightle, John Nicolas Lightle and Jenna Faith Lightle all of Waverly; brothers, Ed (Angie) Lightle, Jeff (Joanie) Lightle and Greg Lightle all of Waverly; nieces and nephews, Carrie, Mandy, Calli, Chris, Austin, Andrew, Brendan, Madison, Coleton, Kailey, and Logan; uncles, Jim and Joe Grooms; aunts, Karen Hobson and Judy Massie; numerous great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tim Dewitt and Bundy, along with numerous other special friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Libby Lightle and Margaret Crabtree and Paul Grooms; and a special friend, Timmy Trehorn.
First and foremost Darren was a proud father of four, he was also a proud teacher and coach for Western Local Schools where he loved all of his students. He loved to farm, working with his dad, brothers, sons and nephews on Lightle Farms. He was president of the Pike County Shrine Club, a member of Waverly Masonic Orient Lodge #321, and a Pike County Democratic Committee member. A loyal Browns fan who never met a stranger, Darren will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, April 1, 2022 at Western High School. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at the school. A Masonic service will be conducted by Orient Lodge #321 at 4:30 pm.
