Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:

April 10, 2022
Deputies responded to Bigham Road on a report of a male subject in a mental health crisis. It was reported the male subject had tried to harm himself. Medics from Hocking County Emergency Services transported the male subject to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment and mental health evaluation.

Deputies responded to Hocking Drive on a report of breaking and entering. It was reported that someone had broken into a business. Evidence was collected and the incident is still under investigation.

A complainant came into the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of fraud. It was reported that someone was using the complainant’s information to access her bank account. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The incident is still under investigation.

Deputies responded to Hock-Hocking Drive on a report of an overdose. It was reported a female subject was found deceased from an apparent overdose. Medics from the Hocking County Emergency Services and Investigators from the Hocking County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The incident is still under investigation.

April 10, 2022
Deputies responded to Maple Street on a report of theft. It was reported that a male juvenile stole prescription narcotics from a family member and ingested them. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The male juvenile was later taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment.

April 11, 2022
Deputies responded to State Route 664N on a report of telecommunications harassment. A female subject stated an ex-boyfriend was harassing her via Facebook Messenger and email. The ex-boyfriend has sent hundreds of messages to the complainant. The complainant stated she just wanted to document the activity.

Deputies responded to Pike Street to a report of theft. It was reported that someone stole underwear and toiletries from the complainant. A statement was obtained from the complainant. She was advised a report would be on file.

Deputies responded to Bremen Road to a report of a suspicious male walking down the roadway. It was reported the male subject had a warrant for his arrest from another county. Deputies made contact with the male subject and discovered he did have warrants for his arrest out of Athens County. While searching the subject Deputies located drug paraphernalia on his person.

Deputies responded to Little Cola Road to a report of domestic violence. It was reported an assault took place between two juvenile brothers. Deputies spoke to the juveniles involved and their parents. It was determined after talking to Hocking County Juvenile Probation that the juveniles would be separated for the evening. One of the juveniles was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Charges were sent to the Hocking Count Prosecutor’s Office.

April 13, 2022
Deputies responded to Harble Griffith Road to a report of theft. It was reported that the occupant of the residence was stealing power from South Central Power. No one was at the residence at the time. Deputies stood by while workers from South Central Power disconnected the power and meter from the residence.

Deputies responded to Starr Route Road to a report of theft. It was reported that packages were taken from the resident’s porch. The complainant contacted the company where he order the package from. They advised him to file a report.

A complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report of telecommunications harassment. It was reported that the complainant’s juvenile son had received multiple texts harassing him. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The incident is still under investigation.

Deputies responded to Big Cola Road to a report of a suicidal female. It was reported a female subject was suicidal and had a knife. Deputies made contact with the female subject. After speaking with her she was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

A male subject came into the Sheriff’s Office to turn in firearms. A court order required the male subject to turn in his firearms to the Sheriff’s Office. A report was taken and the firearms were placed into evidence for safekeeping.

April 15, 2022
A complainant came into the Sheriff’s Office to report theft. It was reported someone took money from her cash app. A statement was obtained and evidence was collected. The incident was still under investigation.

Deputies responded to Darl Road to a report of an unruly juvenile. It was reported a male juvenile was arguing with his family and walked away from his residence. The juvenile was later located in Rockbridge and transported back to his residence.

Deputies performed a traffic stop on Buena Vista Road. Deputies observed a wanted vehicle from Fairfield County. A K9 sniff of the vehicle was performed by K9 Zara. A positive indication was given and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Illegal narcotics were located. Evidence was collected and the incident is still under investigation.

April 15, 2022
A complainant came into the Sheriff’s Office to report damage to his vehicle. It was reported that a subject caused damage to the complainant’s vehicle over a debt owed. Evidence was collected and a statement was obtained.

April 16, 2022
Deputies responded to the Hocking County Fairgrounds to a report of criminal damaging. It was reported that a window was broken and the window screen was pushed in. It was also discovered that the office door and window were unlocked. A statement was obtained and the incident is still under investigation.

Deputies responded to Geiger Road to a report of a juvenile in a mental health crisis. It was reported that a male juvenile was making threats toward his family. He was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

A female subject was arrested by Athens County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant from Hocking County. Deputies transported the female subject to Fairfield County Jail due to no available space at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Deputies responded to Shriner Street to report of an unruly juvenile. It was reported a male juvenile had damaged items in his residence and ran away. The juvenile returned to his residence and Deputies spoke to him. It was decided later that his mother would transport him to Children’s Hospital for mental health treatment. Charges for criminal damaging were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office.

April 16, 2022
Deputies responded to Hood Road to a subject who had a warrant out for his arrest. It was reported the male subject was at a residence. When Deputies made contact with the male subject he fled on foot into a wooded area. K9 Dax was deployed to apprehend the subject. The male subject assaulted K9 Dax and was able to continue fleeing. The subject was apprehended a few moments later. He was treated for minor injuries and was transported to the Fairfield County line, where he was released to Lancaster Police Department for his warrants. Charges were filed through the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office.

April 16, 2022
Deputies assisted the Ohio Division of Natural Resources (ODNR) on a traffic stop. ODNR stopped the vehicle and suspected the driver was impaired. Field sobriety tests were performed on the driver. After the tests, the driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was transported to Logan Police Department for breath testing. After testing he was transported to the Fairfield County line where he was taken into custody for a warrant he had from their county.
