On Wednesday, February 22, Hocking County Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit Detectives attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, on State Route 278 near Carbon Hill.

When the detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle pulled into a driveway and the driver exited the vehicle and fled into a building on the property.

Detectives surrounded the structure and began issuing verbal commands for the subject to surrender, which he did a short time later.

After detaining the driver, they identified him as Eric M. Lockhart, 40 of Nelsonville. It was discovered that Lockhart had an active warrant for his arrest, for a felony probation violation. It was further discovered that Lockhart was currently under parole supervision for a previous conviction of drug trafficking.

Detectives gained consent to search the building from the property owner, which resulted in the seizure of suspected narcotics, digital scales, baggies, Lockhart’s cell phone, and $776.00 in US Currency.

Seized was approximately 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, and various prescription medication.

Lockhart was arrested for his outstanding warrant, and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
