HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH — A high-speed collision on US-23 Friday night sent two people to the hospital after one vehicle overturned multiple times and landed upside down in a ditch.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:32 PM on April 10, 2026, on US-23 Southbound, near the intersection of Weigand Road.

The Collision

According to the crash narrative provided by Deputy Omar Rubio, a 2017 Nissan Sentra, driven by Keisha Medina, 29, of Galloway, was traveling southbound at an “unsafe speed.” Investigators estimate the vehicle was traveling at 70 mph in a 60 mph zone.

Medina reportedly ran off the left side of the roadway and over-corrected, causing her to strike a 2018 Ford F-150 that was also traveling southbound. The Nissan hit the truck’s rear driver-side tire with significant force.

The impact caused the Ford F-150, driven by Charles Stephen Lucas, 67, of Concord, North Carolina, to spin several times before plunging into a ditch on the right side of the highway. Medina’s Nissan continued off the right side of the road, overturning multiple times before coming to rest upside down in the ditch.

Injuries and Emergency Response

Emergency crews from Scioto Township and Harrison Township arrived within minutes to treat the drivers:

  • Keisha Medina (Unit 1): Sustained suspected minor injuries. She was trapped in the overturned Nissan and had to be freed by mechanical means (extrication). Scioto Township EMS transported her to Grant Hospital.
  • Charles Lucas (Unit 2): Sustained suspected minor injuries. He was transported by Harrison Township EMS to Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing their shoulder and lap belts at the time of the accident, and both vehicles’ air bags deployed.

Charges and Investigation

Medina has been cited for Speed (Violation 4511.21). The police report also noted that alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash, though test results are currently pending.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by A&I Towing. The roadway was fully cleared by approximately 12:10 AM on Saturday morning.
