GUILTY – Domestic Violence Stabbing Incident Leads to Arrest in Circleville

Circleville – A woman who used a knife in a domestic incident was found guilty this week.

History:

The Circleville Police Department responded to a reported assault at a residence on Villa Drive on August 8, 2023, a Saturday evening.

Initial Investigation:

  • Upon arrival, officers could not locate a suspect or victim at the scene.
  • Shortly after, a male caller reported being stabbed at the same location.

Returning to the Scene:

  • Officers returned and interviewed the resident, 31-year-old Tessa Trego.
  • Ms. Trego initially denied any wrongdoing and made concerning statements about her willingness to use violence.
  • The victim, however, reported an ongoing altercation throughout the night due to infidelity accusations.
  • He described Ms. Trego chasing him with a butcher knife and hot water, culminating in him being stabbed twice in the elbow while attempting to escape.

Evidence and Arrest:

  • Circleville Police investigators obtained a search warrant and discovered a blood trail leading from the laundry room, where the altercation allegedly occurred, to the front room.
  • Evidence further revealed attempts to clean the scene, and the reported weapon, a butcher knife, was found freshly cleaned in the sink.
  • Ms. Trego was initially arrested on an existing warrant for aggravated menacing.

Updated Charges:

  • Following the investigation, Ms. Trego has been charged with felonious assault and tampering with evidence related to the domestic assault incident.
  • She was taken to Pickaway County Jail.

Guilty Charges:

This week in Pickaway County Court Tessa B. Trego 31 of Villa Dr., Circleville, OH was found Guilty of Aggravated Assault and sentenced to 18 months in prison (maximum sentence), $2,500 fine.
