OHIO – Governor Dewine announced today that he will be signing a bill that will ban gender transition surgeries for minors in Ohio.
“A week has gone by after I vetoed House Bill 68 and I still feel firmly as I did that day,” said Dewine, “I believe the parents, not the government should be making these very crucial medical decisions for the children.”
Dewine says that he is signing an executive order today that goes well beyond what is in HB 68 banning gender transition surgeries for minors in Ohio. The governor said that this would take effect in Ohio immediately.
“My job was to study this issue and decide whether to sign it,” DeWine said Friday. “We’re doing this because we think it’s the right thing to do.
House Bill 68 would have banned the use of hormone treatments for minors.
