COLUMBUS, Ohio — Governor Mike DeWine announced that 150 members of the Ohio National Guard will soon deploy to the nation’s capital at the request of the Secretary of the Army.
The Guard members, all military police, will assist the District of Columbia National Guard by conducting presence patrols and providing additional security.
“These Ohio National Guard members will carry out presence patrols and serve as added security,” DeWine said in a statement. “None of these military police members are currently serving as law enforcement officers in the state of Ohio.”
The troops are expected to arrive in Washington, D.C., in the coming days.
