Fayette County – Naomi Sayre, a 21-year-old woman who was reported missing on March 4th has been found deceased.

On March 22, 2023 at 12:38 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person found deceased at a residence located at 50 Midland Avenue in the Village of Bloomingburg in northeast Fayette County. Upon arrival, deputies were directed to an upstairs area of the home where the deceased body of Naomi Sayre, age 21 was discovered in a closet.

Naomi Sayre was reported missing by her mother, Theresa Sayre on March 5, 2023. Following the discovery of Naomi Sayre, sheriff’s detectives were contacted and responded to the scene, obtaining a search warrant for the home in their continuing investigation.

At the time of the missing person report, Theresa Sayre reported that Naomi had ingested medication not prescribed to her (Naomi) and left the home, last seen traveling north on Midland Avenue. At that time, Naomi reportedly left the home without her cellular device. A missing persons case was created by the Sheriff’s Office and Naomi was entered into NCIC as a missing endangered person. A community search was coordinated on Sunday, March 12th where volunteers canvassed the Village of Bloomingburg, focusing on the area where Naomi Sayre was last reported to have been seen by her mother.

Fayette County Coroner Dr. Lenora Fitton was summoned to the scene following the report this morning and pronounced Naomi Sayre dead on arrival. Naomi Sayre was subsequently transported from the scene to the Montgomery County Medical Coroner’s Office for a post-mortem examination. There were no signs of foul play discovered during the examination and the time and cause of death is unknown at this time, although decomposition of the remains indicate that Sayre had been deceased for an extended period of time.

Sheriff’s detectives conducted the on-scene investigation overnight and into the early morning hours; conducting interviews with other individuals at the home that were present during the discovery of Naomi’s body. Theresa Sayre declined to be interviewed when requested by detectives and wished to speak with legal counsel.

Sheriff’s detectives are collaboratively continuing this investigation with the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
