Fayette County, Ohio – The Ohio Division of Wildlife recently recognized Harold Streitenberger, a dedicated deer processor in Fayette County, with a certificate of appreciation for his more than 30 years of service to the local hunting community. Streitenberger was presented the award by Wildlife Officer John Coffman and District Manager Kassie Mitchell for his contributions to Ohio’s rich hunting tradition.
In other hunting news, Ohio’s 2024 Youth Deer Hunting Season, held over the weekend of November 16-17, saw impressive success with youth hunters harvesting 10,449 deer across the state. The top 10 counties for deer harvested during the season include Tuscarawas, Knox, Coshocton, and Guernsey, among others. The list of top counties for the youth season is as follows:
- Tuscarawas – 354 deer
- Knox – 314 deer
- Coshocton – 303 deer
- Guernsey – 291 deer
- Muskingum – 284 deer
- Holmes – 268 deer
- Licking – 253 deer
- Washington – 227 deer
- Harrison – 223 deer
- Carroll – 218 deer
As Ohio’s hunting season continues, hunters have plenty of opportunities to head into the field. The next major events on the hunting calendar include:
- Youth Gun Season: November 16-17
- Statewide Gun Season: December 2-8
- Additional Gun Weekend: December 21-22
- Late Muzzleloader Season: January 4-7, 2025
- Archery Season: Continues through February 2, 2025
