FAIRFIELD – A local tow company was asked to help mooooove something that hasn’t been able to stand up for weeks, a cow.

A&L Towing and Recovery service based out of Lancaster said that they got the unusual call this morning and even though its not their, “normal” they still offered assistance.

A special lifting device was used called a cow hip lift

“What a morning !!!! Got a call that their cow couldn’t get up for 2 weeks”, A&L told Sciotopost, “we had to answer that call.”

A local farmer requested the tow truck support in getting a cow up that had been laying on the ground for several weeks, and an average cow weighs around 1,600 pounds.

According to the tow company, they brought in one of their small tow trucks to make sure it would fit into the barn. A special lifting device was used called a cow hip lift, then when they got the cow to her feet they used a cow lifter to move her to a special area to get the care she needs.

“I honestly didn’t think she would ever walk again but everyone pitched in and it happened. Just goes to show when people work together we can accomplish almost anything,” said the tow company.

The animal was up and feeding when the company left, they reported that there was no charge to the farmer for the help, just a handshake.
