CHILLICOTHE, OH — A early-morning domestic dispute at a local residence escalated into a series of felony and misdemeanor charges after a man allegedly threatened his family with violence and attempted to conceal methamphetamine inside a police cruiser.
According to reports from the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:18 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, to a residence at 194 Plyleys Lane following reports of a male aggressively pounding on the front door.
Upon arrival, Officer Justin Tuttle and Officer Shelby Lott observed 41-year-old Jared Andrew Fairchild Sr. shouting and forcefully banging on the entrance. Officers noted Fairchild was sweating profusely, had pinpoint pupils, was carrying several items—including a bag containing a hammer—and appeared heavily under the influence of narcotics. He was immediately detained.
Police spoke with the victim, Nicole Carmines, who was inside the home with the couple’s juvenile son. Carmines reported that she had allowed Fairchild to stay the night, but after waking up for work around 3:30 a.m., he became paranoid and aggressive.
When Carmines attempted to record his behavior, Fairchild allegedly snatched her phone, shoved her, and lunged toward their son, prompting the youth to grab a knife out of fear for their safety. Carmines told officers Fairchild threatened to “dice” her up before she managed to trick him into stepping outside, locking the door behind him, and having her son call 911. Fairchild also made disturbing statements to officers, admitting he had relapsed three days prior and stating, “I wanted to kill ’em,” referring to his family.
After officers placed Fairchild under arrest, a search of his backpack revealed a capped hypodermic needle. However, the situation intensified during his transport to the Ross County Jail.
Approximately one minute into the drive, Officer Tuttle observed Fairchild frantically digging around inside his pants in the backseat of the patrol cruiser. Fairchild blurted out that he had “some shit” on him and had pulled several baggies of methamphetamine from his clothes. Officer Tuttle immediately pulled over and found white, crystal-like rocks scattered across Fairchild’s hands and the floorboards of the cruiser. Additional plastic baggies of suspected narcotics were found hidden inside his right sock.
Fairchild also alerted officers that more drugs were hidden under the living room couch at the residence. With Carmines’ consent, officers searched the home and recovered a plate containing a razor blade with white powder residue and additional baggies.
Upon arriving at the Ross County Jail, the on-duty medical nurse denied Fairchild’s admission due to severe open sores on his arms. He was subsequently transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation and treatment.
After being medically cleared by hospital staff later that morning, Officer Brayden Woodbridge transported Fairchild back to the Ross County Jail, where he was booked on charges of domestic violence by menacing, aggravated menacing, possession of drug abuse instruments, and illegal possession of drugs.
Fairchild was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Chillicothe Municipal Court on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Collected evidence has been submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for laboratory analysis, and additional charges may be filed pending test results.
