CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is preparing for a major digital overhaul. On June 6, 2026, the facility will officially transition to the new Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR), a move aimed at streamlining and improving healthcare delivery for local veterans.

While the new system promises a more integrated experience, the VA is warning patients of a series of temporary service outages affecting online scheduling, messaging, and pharmacy requests during the transition period.

Key Outage Dates to Remember

To ensure a smooth migration of data, several features on My HealtheVet and the VA: Health and Benefits mobile app will be temporarily disabled:

  • Appointments:
    • May 6 – June 16: Online self-scheduling and appointment requests will be unavailable.
    • May 27 – June 16: Online appointment cancellations will be disabled.
    • Action: Call your PACT Team directly to manage appointments during this window.
  • Messaging & Prescriptions:
    • May 31 – June 8: Secure messaging and online renewal requests will be offline.
    • June 3 – June 8: Online refill requests will be unavailable.
  • Automated Phone Pharmacy:
    • June 1: Automated renewals disabled.
    • June 5: Automated refills disabled.
    • Note: The automated system is expected to resume full service on June 6.

How to Get Care During the Transition

The VA emphasizes that while online tools may be down, care remains available. Veterans are encouraged to use the following alternatives:

  1. Pharmacy: Call the pharmacy phone number listed on your prescription label directly to speak with a representative for refills or renewals.
  2. Scheduling: Contact your PACT Team via telephone for all scheduling needs.
  3. Support: For help with online tools, call 877-327-0022. For Telehealth questions, call 740-773-1141 (ext. 16372).

A Modernized Future

The implementation of the Federal EHR is part of a nationwide effort to create a single, common health record for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.

“We thank you for your continued patience as we implement the Federal EHR to improve health care delivery for all Chillicothe VA Veterans,” the Medical Center stated in a release.
