
CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department had a busy 24-hour stretch on Thursday, May 7, 2025, handling 16 documented incidents ranging from high-stakes felony investigations to neighborhood disputes.
Juvenile Sent to Detention
The most significant police action occurred early Thursday afternoon on Plyleys Lane. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block in response to a juvenile complaint involving property damage. Following an on-scene investigation into the criminal mischief, Magistrate Szorady approved the arrest of the minor. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Burglary and Thefts Under Investigation
Detectives are currently following up on several property crimes reported throughout the day:
- Orange Street Burglary: Officers responded to a report of a trespass in an occupied structure. Police are treating this as a burglary, and the investigation remains active.
- Retail Theft: Two high-profile retail thefts were reported. One occurred at the Men’s Shop on N. Paint St., and another at the River Trace Lane Walmart, which also involved charges of criminal trespass and an outstanding warrant.
- Watt Street Theft: A theft “without consent” was reported on the 70’s block of S. Watt St. early Thursday morning.
Disorderly Conduct and Local “Hot Spots”
Police were called to several well-known local business areas to resolve disputes:
- Olive Garden (N. Bridge St.): A male was reported for criminal trespass after refusing to leave the premises. He was found to have an outstanding warrant.
- McDonald’s Truck Lot (E. Main St.): Officers mediated a domestic dispute occurring in the lot just before noon.
- N. Bridge St.: A disorderly complaint in the 1400 block was resolved without criminal charges.
- Tiffin Towers (S. Walnut St.): A report of fighting and threatening behavior led to a disorderly conduct investigation that is still ongoing.
Violent Threats and Road Safety
Late-night calls took a more serious turn on Steele Street, where officers responded to a report of Aggravated Menacing. The suspect in that case is also facing charges for disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
On the roadways, police handled a Hit-Skip (hit and run) at the intersection of S. Watt and E. Main Street, as well as a separate traffic accident earlier in the day at Eastern and Bridge.
The day concluded just before midnight with a traffic stop that resulted in an arrest for Drug Possession and an outstanding warrant.
