Chillicothe Police Handle Assaults, Thefts, and Multiple Traffic Stops on August 21

Chillicothe, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a variety of incidents on Thursday, August 21, ranging from drug possession and assaults to speeding stops and criminal trespass complaints.

  • Early Morning Incidents:
    Just after midnight, officers conducted a traffic stop on Eastern Avenue that resulted in a drug possession report. Around 3:30 a.m., another stop on East Main Street led to an arrest for driving under suspension.
  • Assaults Reported:
    At 6:16 a.m., police were called to Redd Street for an assault report. Another assault-related disorderly conduct complaint was logged later in the day on River Trace Lane. Both cases remain under investigation.
  • Traffic Enforcement:
    Officers were active on Yoctangee Parkway throughout the morning, making several stops for speeding between 6:20 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. Additional traffic violations were handled on Main Street, Western Avenue, and East 7th Street, including one rear-end crash and multiple citations for driving under suspension.
  • Theft and Fraud Cases:
    Police investigated a theft of medication complaint on North Watt Street, a criminal mischief incident tied to a possible hit-skip on Edgewood Drive, and several thefts across the city—including one at a residence on East Water Street. An investigation also began into a misuse of credit card report on McKellar Street.
  • Trespassing Complaints:
    Multiple trespassing cases were reported, including an individual found asleep in a lawn chair at a city park shelter, another at a business on North Bridge Street, and separate complaints at residences on East Second Street and North Hickory Street.
  • Warrants Served:
    Officers arrested Thomas Whitley Sr. near West Main and North High Streets on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a prior trespass charge. He was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he is being held on bond. His bicycle—described as a white cruiser with a milk crate on the front—was secured for safekeeping. Another warrant was served later in the evening on North Paint Street.
  • Other Reports:
    Officers also assisted Adult Parole with locating an individual, responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at Sherman Park, and handled a disorder call at Speedway on North Bridge Street.

In total, Chillicothe police logged 29 reports throughout the day. Many cases remain under investigation.
