CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police handled 18 reported incidents on Aug. 7, including multiple warrant arrests, theft and trespassing complaints, disorderly conduct calls and several traffic-related incidents, according to the department’s daily media report.
One of the first incidents occurred shortly after midnight when an officer conducting patrol in the Yoctangee Park Annex made a warrant arrest.
Later that morning, officers responded to a complaint on University Drive involving disorderly conduct. The investigation remains ongoing.
At approximately 10:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 12 block of Cheyenne Drive for a criminal trespass complaint. That investigation also remains active.
Officers were later called to McArthur Gardens on Columbus Street regarding a disturbance. The incident resulted in a warrant-related entry in the department’s report.
Police also investigated a reported theft from a building on South Renick Avenue and a hit-and-skip crash reported on Old Eastern Avenue.
During the afternoon, officers responded to Zane Village for a welfare check. A second welfare-check call was reported on Madeira Avenue. Police determined that the locations where the at-risk person was believed to be were outside Chillicothe. Officers requested a cellphone location ping and forwarded the case to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
Several traffic-related incidents were also reported.
Police issued a citation during a traffic stop on East Main Street involving an expired license plate or validation sticker. Another traffic stop involved a driver’s license suspension.
Officers investigated a criminal mischief complaint involving property at Plyleys Lane and took a report.
At approximately 4:22 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the Speedway on East Main Street. A traffic citation was issued for failure to yield the right of way while turning left, and an accident report was completed.
Another crash was reported on River Trace Lane. Police issued a citation for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
In the evening, officers received a report involving alleged harassment through social media. Police spoke with a woman from Tennessee regarding the complaint, which remains under investigation.
Man Served With Outstanding Warrant
At approximately 7:29 p.m., Jeremy Lewis was arrested by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and taken to the Ross County Jail.
Once at the jail, a Chillicothe officer served Lewis with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of disorderly conduct by intoxication. According to police, Lewis will be held in lieu of bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 10.
Later in the evening, officers handled a report of reckless operation on private property following a traffic stop.
A final warrant arrest was reported shortly before midnight.
The Chillicothe Police Department listed 18 total records for Aug. 7. Several of the cases remain under investigation, and additional information was not immediately available.
