According to the Daily Media Report, officers responded to 13 notable incidents throughout the day.
Early Morning Crime & Disputes
The day began with a series of criminal reports in the downtown and bridge street areas:
- Breaking and Entering: At 2:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Vine Street following a report of a theft. Investigators believe the entry was made with the intent to commit a felony theft offense.
- Store Fight: Just over an hour later, at 3:22 a.m., units responded to the Amoco on North Bridge Street for a report of individuals fighting inside the convenience store. The case remains under investigation for criminal mischief.
Nuisance Abatement & Public Safety
The City of Chillicothe Nuisance Officer was active Thursday morning, working to clear abandoned property from local alleys:
- E. 4th Street: Officers assisted in removing an abandoned vehicle frame and cap that was partially blocking an alleyway.
- McKeller Street: A second abandoned vehicle was towed from a property after it was found in the rear of a residence filled with trash.
Threats, Stalking, and Harassment
Several reports were filed involving personal safety and harassment:
- Yaples Orchard Drive: Police are investigating a complex case involving Menacing by Stalking, criminal trespass, and telecommunications harassment.
- Consumer Center Drive: A threats complaint was filed at the shopping center around 1:00 p.m.; investigation is ongoing.
- Johnson Road: A report of criminal trespassing was taken during the morning hours.
Traffic and Theft
- Crashes: Two separate “Assured Clear Distance Ahead” (ACDA) collisions occurred Thursday—one on North High Street and another at the intersection of Arch and North High Street. No major injuries were reported.
- Theft: Retail theft was reported at the Riverview Plaza Walmart at 6:22 p.m., followed by a separate theft report on Vine Street less than thirty minutes later. Both cases are currently under investigation.
- Warrants: Officers successfully served warrants during a traffic stop on East Water Street and following a juvenile complaint at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC).
