CHILLICOTHE — A late-night dispute at a local gas station turned violent early Thursday morning, narrowly missing a store clerk and resulting in a criminal warrant for a Chillicothe resident.
At approximately 3:22 a.m. on April 16, 2026, Chillicothe Police officers were dispatched to the Amoco station at 61 N. Bridge Street following reports of a fight breaking out inside the business.
A Near Miss for the Clerk
According to supplemental reports by Officer Justin Tuttle, the store clerk, Dasean Michael Vance, was assisting a customer at the register when two men entered the store and approached the customer from behind.
Vance reported that one of the men, later identified as Noah David Damron, attempted to strike the customer in the back of the head with a “tall boy” beer can. The can missed the intended target, instead smashing into a cigarette display stand located directly behind the clerk. The impact showered the area with liquid and debris, narrowly missing Vance’s head.
The two suspects and the unidentified customer then briefly engaged in a physical altercation, knocking over store displays, before all parties fled the scene in separate vehicles.
Investigation and Identification
Store manager arrived shortly after the incident to assist police in reviewing high-definition security footage. During the review, one of the men involved was identified as Robert Alex Whiting.
While the unidentified customer left the scene before police arrival, officers were able to contact Whiting via cellphone. Whiting cooperated with the investigation, returning to the store and identifying the man in the gray hoodie who threw the beer can as Noah David Damron.
Officer Tuttle confirmed Damron’s identity by showing a photograph to the store clerk, who provided a positive identification.
Damages and Charges
The manager reported several hundred dollars in damages to the business, including:
- Cigarette Display Stand: Valued at $500.00
- Store Merchandise: Damaged inventory and the beer can used as a weapon.
Management indicated they wish to pursue formal charges and have requested that Damron be barred from the property permanently.
Warrant Requested
Following the investigation, Chillicothe Police have established probable cause to request a warrant for Noah David Damron on charges of Criminal Mischief, a first-degree misdemeanor. Officers noted that Damron’s actions created a significant risk of physical harm to both the intended victim and the store employee.
Police attempted to locate Damron at an address on East 4th Street following the incident, but were unsuccessful. The investigation remains active.
