Fairfield – A Lithopolis Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for numerous lane violations and the vehicle refused to pull over.  At that time, the officer advised the dispatcher that the vehicle was failing to stop, resulting in a pursuit.

A second Lithopolis officer caught up to them as the vehicle fled into Fairfield County.  Eventually, the vehicle traveled westbound on Royalton Rd, where it crossed over Winchester Southern Rd onto State Route 752.  Shortly after, a Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office unit became involved.  The vehicle then traveled northbound on Walnut Creek Pike into Franklin County, at which time the Pickaway County unit disengaged.  The fleeing suspect’s engine blew up on Pontius Road, and the operator bailed out, fled into the woods, and into a ravine.  He was taken into custody in a stream bed after a brief struggle.  Lithopolis units were assisted on scene by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Madison Township Police Department.  The vehicle operator was transported to the hospital due to injuries he suffered from falling in the ravine.  Charges are pending against the 46-Year-old driver and his name is being withheld until those charges are filed.
