UPDATE: Armed Suspect in Custody After Shots Fired in Ashville

ASHVILLE, OH — Law enforcement agencies across Pickaway County are on high alert this evening following a reports of shots fired within the Village of Ashville.

Officers have issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.

Suspect Vehicle Description

Police are searching for a black 2004 Toyota pickup truck. The vehicle is specifically identified by a prominent American flag sticker located on the rear of the truck.

ASHVILLE/LANCASTER, OH — The search for a suspect involved in an Ashville “shots fired” incident ended in a high-stakes felony stop today after the suspect vehicle was intercepted in neighboring Fairfield County.

Following the initial BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert for a black 2004 Toyota truck with an American flag sticker, Fairfield County law enforcement spotted a vehicle matching the description. After confirming both the license plate and unique vehicle identifiers, officers initiated a high-risk “felony stop.”

The Arrest

The suspect, identified as a 40-year-old male from Canal Winchester, was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint by Fairfield County deputies. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Upon securing the suspect, a search of the Toyota truck led to the discovery of a firearm concealed inside a bag.

Unanswered Questions

While the suspect is now in custody, several questions remain. Authorities noted the man is a resident of Canal Winchester, and it is currently unknown why he was in Ashville at the time of the reported shooting.

Investigating officers from the Ashville Police Department are working to determine the motive behind the gunfire and whether any property was damaged or individuals targeted during the incident.
