PIKE – Police are on the scene of a fire that consumed a house in the early morning hours last night off 124 and 202 in Hillsboro/Latham area.
According to scanner traffic a elderly woman was home when fire broke out sometime in the night, no fire was reported until this morning and the building has burnt mostly to the ground. When police arrived the house was only smoldering. Police say that one person is dead, and one person that is said to live in the home is not accounted for at this time.
Neighbors say that a 40’s-50 year old man lives there with a elderly woman but goes out of town for long periods of time.
Police have the area blocked off, a coroner and state fire marshals are heading to scene to determine the cause of the fire, and continue with the investation.
