CHILLICOTHE, OH — June 3, 2025 — Emergency crews are on the scene of a reported fire at the Glatfelter/Pixelle paper mill in Chillicothe. According to early reports, the incident involves a turbine fire inside the facility, prompting an immediate call for mutual aid.
Chillicothe fire units were first to respond, and additional assistance has been requested from neighboring departments as efforts are underway to contain and extinguish the blaze. Smoke could be seen rising from the mill late Tuesday afternoon.
It is not yet clear if there are any injuries or the extent of the damage. Fire officials have not released an official statement at this time.
The Glatfelter/Pixelle mill is one of the region’s key industrial employers and has operated in the area for decades.
